Of course, I don’t. That’s why I don’t prescribe anything.
My mentees know their lives better than me- they have lived it and I have not (and never will).
Then what do I do?
I ask them questions and then I shut up. My job is to listen. Once they finish, I ask a few more in a bid to help them figure a different point of view.
My mentees either leave Room 505 beaming with new found clarity, or it is back to the drawing board for them.
Either way, we both win. But it is always about them, not me.
